Duncan Taylor & Company, owner of one of the largest privately held collections of rare Scotch whisky casks, has been laying down casks from premium Scottish distilleries for decades; only in recent years has the company made its branded products available on the international market. Dimensions is a super-premium collection highlighting the multi-dimensional nature of the Duncan Taylor Portfolio. The whiskies in this range vary from 10-year-old single malts and grains up to 39 years of age. This 22-year-old, bottled from the legendary Blair Athol distillery in the Midlands; dating from 1798, it is among Scotland’s oldest distilleries and although its single malts are relatively obscure they are well worth seeking out. Light amber in color, this Scotch was distilled in 1991, aged, and bottled in 2014. It offers a woodsy and confectionary nose with aromas of pine, cedar, cream soda, and raisins. The palate is weighty, but manages to glide and shift, while showing sweet and spicy notes of sugar and red peppercorns before a smoky finish.
