As the first Oolithe limestone slab, sloping eastward, standing like a sentinel facing the south and the plain, Rotenberg is the most precocious terrroir of Bergheim. Its red soil marked by iron, deeply lying limestone and solar climate fully assemble Riesling and Pinot Gris in this shimmering citrus characteristics, less jam than Grasberg, but still fine and very elegant. The Rotenberg are the wines supposed to be enjoyed quite young, fresh and aerial with its lemon frame, very aromatic, which tends to be paired with the noblest fish, enlightening a beautiful light in the palate ... almost geological!
